GenderJobs.org is live!
Some months ago I was approached by Ludovica Anedda to join the board of Gender Jobs. With positive answers to my follow-up on whether this was also a space for supporting training on salary negotiations and work conditions in the sector, I was happy to join the team.
It is necessary to support the emergence of talent in the sector, so that we can continue to counter the “anti-gender” backlash that is growing across the world. Support also means that the jobs have to be good jobs – that offer living wages and healthy working conditions. Otherwise we will be unable to work towards achieving the equality and justice we strive for.
As friends know I have supported a number of people in fine-tuning their job applications, CVs, or preparing for interviews in the past. I was especially keen to support those who face more structural violence in applying for employment. While it is something I haven’t been able to keep up with, I do hope my engagement in Gender Jobs will be one way to work on the same goals in a more structured way.
